Week 7: October 8 - October 12

We will be finishing up with Chapter 1, Lesson 3: How do scientists answer questions?
Students will be taking a quiz on Thursday, October 11. Review pages 17 - 23 in your science book and the lesson check worksheet (students will receive this on Wednesday).

**Please send in party money if you haven't done so already so we can start planning our Halloween party!  Thank you to all who have already sent it in!

Week 6: October 1 - October 5

We will be starting Chapter 1, Lesson 3: How do scientists answer questions?
Students will be learning about the Scientific Method and the steps scientists use to answer questions.

**Reminder: There will be NO after-school program on Tuesday, Oct. 2
**Friday, October 5: Early Dismissal (12:00)
**Monday, October 8: No school for students!

Week 5: September 24 - September 28

We will be finishing up Chapter 1, Lesson 2: What tools do scientists use?  There will be a quiz on Thursday, September 27.

Tuesday: complete Chapter 1, Lesson 2 check worksheet
Wednesday: study for quiz!

Week 4: September 17 - September 21

We will be finishing up Chapter 1, Lesson 1: What questions do scientists ask?  There will be a lesson 1 quiz on Wednesday, Sept. 19.  We will be moving on to Lesson 2: How do scientists use tools?

Monday: Lesson 1 Check worksheet for homework (if not finished in class)

Tuesday: Review lesson 1 for quiz on Wednesday!

Week 3: September 10 - September 14

On Monday, Tuesday, and possibly Wednesday we will be taking the CDT Tests.  These tests will not be a grade!

The rest of the week we will continue with Chapter 1, Lesson 1: What Questions do Scientists Ask?

Week 2: September 5 - September 7

This week we will be setting up our Interactive Notebooks and receiving our Science Textbooks.
Our focus this week will be on "What questions do Scientists ask?" (Chapter 1, Lesson 1).

Reminder: Please return all back to school paperwork as soon as possible if you have not done so already!

New Topics in Computer Class: May 2018

Kindergarten: Students will continue using Dance Mat Typing to practice finding letters on the keyboard.  Students will also use Keyboard Zoo on the website ABCya! to practice typing.

1st grade: Students will continue using Google Docs.  We will be practicing correct line spacing, capitalization, and punctuation.  

2nd grade: Students will begin learning about Internet Safety.  We will be watching Netsmartz video clips and discussing the importance of staying safe online. 

3rd grade: Students will be starting their Webquest.  We will be searching for answers to questions on Google using keywords and reliable resources/websites.  

4th grade: Students will be finishing their Webquest and we will be going over the answers.  Students will begin learning about Google Slides, the tool bar, and how to create a presentation. 

5th and 6th grade: Students will be introduced to Code.org.  We will be learning what coding is and how it is used to create video and computer games. Students will practice creating codes on Code.org.
